Okay, first of all it might help if you knew a little bit about me.
I was born in Florida in 1972, which at this time puts me in the thirtysomething category. If I sound a bit old and stodgy sometimes, this is why. I am an untrusting and somewhat cantankerous (some people just call it grumpy) skeptic.
At a young age, my mother left my dad. I didn't know it at the time, since I was three or something, that he was an abusive alcoholic. After growing up somewhat I was able to spend some time with him to verify this for myself, and it's true. He's a wank. So, we (mom, sister and I) moved from Florida to where my mom's family was in central Ohio. This is where I spent the majority of my life and thus why I consider myself a Buckeye rather than a Gator.
I also spent a few years in Utah, specifically kindergarden through the fourth grade. These are very tender and impressionable years, and I was the unfortunate victim of a smothering and oppressive Mormon society, which naturally saw fit to babtize me so technically I'm a Mormon, though I haven't practiced any sort of religion since the day we left the Salt Lake area to return to Ohio a second time. I did however gain all associated benefiets of being a member of the Cub Scouts during these years, so at least there was something positive about the whole endeavor.
Most of the stuff that happened between then and now is pretty regular stuff. I may be inclined to write about the things that happened to me through my high school years and upon reaching the age of consent, as well as the subsequent wild years one genrally lives upon leaving the nest. It's all a bit too much for one post though so I'll leave it for later.
Now, I am currently working in the technical field. I am an engineer for a movie theater presentation company, and am responsible for a service area covering locations in 3 states. I install, repair and maintain the equipment for reproducing 35mm films so you could say I'm part mechanic, part electrician, and part electronics repairman. Most of the stuff I do is mundane, but installing and tuning sound systems is fairly cool... in fact, when installing the equipment for a brand new theater, all the work required to get to the point of tuning up the sound system (which is usually the last thing to do) is just the price you pay for getting to set up a monster sound system that people will be listening to for years to come. We like to think of it as the icing.
Icing, therfore, is where my username comes from. In the process of tuning a sound system it is necessary to use a couple different test films, or test loops. A test loop is simply a stretch of film that has been spliced together to form a loop. These loops are used to align and verify that the optics of a projector's sound head are adjusted so that the film's sound track can be propely reproduced. One such loop, CAT-69 is a simple tone at around the 2 kilohertz frequency that is used to set the input gain on a Dolby processor. It is commonly referred to as Dolby Test Tone, or Dolby Tone. This being a very commonly used loop, and something I do often, I was naturally inclined to use the simplified Dolbytone as a username online.
So, there's the brief story on that.

Cheerful, optimist and possessed of a sense of justice, you're definitely the sort who sees the cup as half full. Selfless and considerate of others, you often give those you're close to the benefit of the doubt, and before you go and point fingers you first gain solid proof against them rather than outright accuse them. Chances are, however, that you trust people sometimes a bit too much, and in doing such are shocked to discover you've been deceived. However, in the end your strong will and determination prevail, and you right the wrongs, should such actions be necessary. And fanboys love your tube top and miniskirt.

Well, it's been a while. I come back here when I want to get in touch with my online forum roots so to speak, because this was the very first Playstation forum I frequented.
11/17/02 huh. Well that makes it almost a year doesn't it. What have I been doing in that time? Playing SOCOM a lot. I pretty much neglected all other games, which is common for me to do once I get into a game. I did that once before with Gran Turismo 2. Played that game for a year straight what with the online racing events and putting times up on record laps pages. That was a lot of fun, and it helped me complete GT3 without breaking a sweat. That was nice.
I run a website now too. That's what I've been doing besides play SOCOM, is run a site dedicated to the game. That's been a learning experience. If you're bored stop by Socom HQ and check it out.
Well, I'm going to browse the forums now.
